These Pizza Roasted Nuts are packed with flavor but only require 6 ingredients to make! They’re a great Gluten Free, Vegan, and Paleo snack to have on hand.

Do you remember those Pizza-Flavored Pringles? They were my absolute favorite chip flavor before I went Vegan.  Nowadays, I’m much more health-conscious and mindful about what I put in my body. But dang, these Pizza-flavored Roasted Nuts sure do taste just like those chips.

(In the best way possible)

Even better, the pizza-flavoring only requires 4 simple ingredients and this whole recipe comes together in about 20 minutes! I’ve been loving these Roasted Nuts as a quick snack, especially when I’m craving something salty instead of sweet. Sometimes fruit or a fudgy bliss ball just doesn’t cut it, ya know?

I roasted my nuts on a reusable Silicone Mat (aka one of my best and most-used purchases ever), but you could also use parchment paper if you’d like. Personally I do find that the mat helps to caramelize my food and make it more crispy, though.

Now that it’s back-to-school season, I’ve been trying to have more Lunchbox-friendly recipes here for you on From My Bowl. This recipe is actually a part of my latest YouTube video, in which I show you 3 easy Vegan lunchbox snacks! A Few Final Thoughts:
  • Be sure to let the Roasted Nuts cool completely on the baking tray before putting them away. Otherwise they may not dry completely and leave the nuts a little soggy.
  • If you do not have both almonds and cashews in your pantry, feel free to sub another nut or seed! Just make sure that you are still using the same nut-to-marinade ratio.
  • Though I have not tested a nut-free version of this recipe, I imagine you could substitute equal parts sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds for an equally delicious effect.

Pizza Roasted Nuts – Gluten Free, Vegan, Paleo

These Pizza Roasted Nuts are packed with flavor but only require 6 ingredients to make! They’re a great Gluten Free, Vegan, and Paleo snack to have on hand.

  • Prep Time: 9 minutes
  • Cook Time: 11 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 5 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2/3 cup Raw Cashews
  • 2/3 cup Raw Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2 tsp Tamari (or Soy Sauce / Liquid Aminos if not GF)
  • 2 tbsp Filtered Water
  • 1/3 cup Sundried Tomatoes, chopped into bite sized pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the Nutritional Yeast, Tomato Paste, Italian Seasoning, Tamari, and Water. Mix well until an even paste forms.
  3. Add the Cashews and Almonds to the bowl and mix until everything is evenly coated. Spread the nut mixture evenly across a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 350F for 5 minutes, then remove the nuts and mix. Continue to cook at 3 minute intervals, tossing in between each interval, until the nuts are toasted and the Pizza “marinade” has dried (I cooked mine for two 3-minute intervals).
  5. Once the nuts have completely cooked, add the chopped Sundried Tomatoes to the baking tray and toss to combine. Let cool completely before packing away.
  6. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.

Notes

If you do not own an Italian Seasoning mix, here is a quick DIY recipe.

I found oil-free Sundried Tomatoes from Trader Joes but if you cannot get your hands on some, be sure to drain + dry yours well before mixing with the nuts.

  1. Hi, I made these following the recipe exactly. The flavor is good, but they seem a bit soft and chewy, not crunchy. I didn’t want them to burn so I took them out after the amount of time you said. Would baking them longer help to give back their crunch?
Btw, just found your blog, after hearing you on Dustin Harder’s podcast! 🙂

    1. Welcome to the blog, Karen! I hope you enjoy all the recipes here. For the pizza roasted nuts, the amount of time is just based on how mine was made but you can bake them a bit longer and do it in 2-3minute intervals being careful not to burn them.

  2. OK, these are AMA ZING. Lately I’ve been craving pizza pretzels (which are not vegan) and pizza in general so I tried making these. So quick, so easy, o delicious! My friends tried some and they loved them so much hey begged me to make them some so I whipped up a second batch.
I added some pumpkin and sunflower seeds to the mix too, and they work well.

  3. 4 stars
I did not have the right seasoning but I did have pizza sauce so that is what I did sans the full amount of tamari, but they came out great and this is now a staple on my desk I make double because I have snacks bandit in my office

  4. I really want to try this recipe with a mix of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts! I bet this would taste incredible in a “pizza-fied” salad or even on top of an actual pizza!

  5. 5 stars
These are delicious and quick & easy to make! I realised the tomato paste in my fridge had mild growing, yikes! And I didn’t have any tomato paste in the pantry, but I almost always have some, weird. Instead I took 1 tbsp plain tomato sauce + 1/2 tsp cornstarch to thicken it, and it came out just as good! I definitely agree with the pizza Pringle flavour, pretty amazing how that turned out! Very crafty, Caitlin! I will probably make these again in the future, as they were simple, fast, and delicious (oh yah, and NUT-ritious ?) and these are all staple items that I almost always have in the cupboard. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
