The summer heat is officially here in the PNW, which means my blender isn’t catching a break anytime soon! I’ve been busy whipping up fruit-filled slushies nearly every day and I think I’ve just found my new favorite: this 3-ingredient Cantaloupe Slushie! It’s a quick and easy summer drink that’s made with minimal ingredients, but packs maximum summertime flavor 🙂

INGREDIENTS + INSPIRATION

This simple slushie is made using just 3 easy-to-find ingredients: cantaloupe, sweetener, and lime-flavored sparkling water! The lime sparkling water and touch of sweetness from the maple/agave are the perfect complements to the fresh, summery flavors of the cantaloupe. Trust me..it’s the BEST combo! If you’ve never been one to reach for cantaloupe at the store, let this tasty slushie change your mind! But no worries—if you already know you aren’t a fan of the fleshy orange melon, you can swap out the cantaloupe for another melon, like honeydew or watermelon.

HOW TO MAKE CANTALOUPE SLUSHIES

This slushie recipe is pretty straightforward: simply toss all 3 ingredients into the blender, blend, pour, and enjoy! Pro-tip for all my melon-lovers out there: ripe cantaloupe smells sweet and fragrant before cutting, so make sure you give your melons a good sniff before purchasing them at the store! 😉

  1. Cut the cantaloupe into chunks and freeze
  2. Let the frozen cantaloupe chunks defrost at room temp for about 5 mins, then add them to a blender with the maple/agave and sparkling water.
  3. Pulse until the melon starts to break down into a thick slushie consistency. Add more sweetener or sparkling water, if desired. Divide into 4 glasses and enjoy

Who doesn’t love a refreshing fruit slushie to cool down during the hot summer months?! They’re great for kids or adults (see my recipe notes for making them boozy 😉), and they make a great treat for bringing to a picnic or party with your friends! My friends and I couldn’t get enough of our spiked melon slushies at my birthday party earlier this month! If you’re planning to bring these with you to your next get-together, you can prep them ahead of time by cubing and freezing the cantaloupe for up to 2 weeks before making.

Cantaloupe Slushie Recipe

This homemade Cantaloupe Slushie is the perfect naturally sweetened treat to help beat the summer heat, and it’s made with just 3 simple ingredients! Naturally vegan & gluten-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups (~1160 g) cubed cantaloupe, frozen for at least 8 hours
  • 24 tablespoons maple syrup or agave
  • 1 1/22 1/2 cups (350470 ml) lime sparkling water* (see notes for substitutions)

Instructions

  1. First, let the cantaloupe chunks sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to defrost some. Then, add them to a blender along with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and 1 1/2 cups (350 ml) of sparkling water.
  2. Pulse the blender until the melon starts to break up some, then blend to form a thick, slushie consistency. Adjust the Maple Syrup to taste, adding more if necessary. If the mixture is too thick for your liking, you can also add in extra sparkling water. Divide equally into 4 glasses, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Flavor Alternatives: if you’d like, you can replace the sparkling water and maple syrup with sweetened soda, such as Sprite or ginger ale. Alternatively, you can also add the juice of 1 lime + add water instead of sparkling water.
  • Make it Boozy: if you are 21+, add in 2-4 shots of tequila (or your alcohol of choice) for a fun twist!
  • Food Processor: if you don’t have a blender with a tamper, I recommend using a food processor instead!

  1. great idea, have never used cantaloupe as a base for a drink, but it makes sense given the mild flavor and even better with your alcohol version, thank you!
