Instructions

  1. First, add all ingredients to a nonstick saucepan over high heat.
  2. Once the mixture begins to boil, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 6-10 minutes, whisking constantly to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan. The Caramel Sauce is ready once it has noticeably thickened and “sticks” to a spoon; keep in mind that it will also thicken as it cools!
  3. Pour into a sealable jar or container and let cool before storing in the fridge for up to 10 days. Serve as desired; if the mixture thickens too much in the fridge, simply microwave for ~10 seconds or so and stir well to loosen the sauce up.

Notes

  • Coconut Sugar may be substituted for Brown Sugar, if you do not have access to it.
  • To make more of a spread than a sauce, reduce the Coconut Milk to 1 cup
  • I used a White Miso made from soybeans, but you can also use Chickpea Miso if you avoid soy.
