These Crispy Buffalo Chickpeas are equal parts delicious and addictive! Made with only 4 ingredients, this Oil-Free recipe has a perfect kick and crunch.
Who knew that such crunchy, spicy, and delicious perfection was only 4 budget-friendly ingredients away?!
If you know me in real life, you’ll know that I absolutely love spicy food. A meal just doesn’t feel complete without it! I originally created these Buffalo Chickpeas as a Savory Snack Idea…but to be honest, they’ve been making their way into my Salads and Buddha Bowls as well. ((No complaints here))
The good news is they’re made with only FOUR affordable ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry: Chickpeas, Nutritional Yeast, Cornstarch, and Buffalo Sauce!
All you have to do is drain (but don’t rinse) your Chickpeas, then toss them in a bowl with the remaining ingredients. I opted to cook these Buffalo Chickpeas in the oven at a lower temperature, for a longer amount of time. This allows the Chickpeas to actually be crispy aka not still mushy in the center. (Thanks for the tip, Minimalist Baker!)
This recipe only calls for one can of Chickpeas and makes a pretty small batch. If you’re anything like me, though, you miiiight just want to double it. Because I ate all of these crispy, addictive morsels in a matter of hours. They’re great as is, but if you do have leftovers, try them out as a spicy and fun twist on a crouton!

PrintCrispy Buffalo Chickpeas (Only 4 Ingredients!)
These Crispy Buffalo Chickpeas are equal parts delicious and addictive! Made with only 4 ingredients, this Oil-Free recipe has a perfect kick and crunch.
- Prep Time: 5 Minutes
- Cook Time: 60 Minutes
- Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
- Yield: 2-3 Servings 1x
- Category: Snack
- Method: Oven
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 1 15 oz. can of Chickpeas, drained but not rinsed
- 2 tsp Nutritional Yeast
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 tbsp Buffalo Hot Sauce (not Wing Sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 360F.
- Drain your can of Chickpeas, but do not rinse them. Add them to a Medium Sized Bowl, then sprinkle the Cornstarch and Nutritional Yeast over the top of them. Mix Well.
- Once the Chickpeas are evenly coated in the “breading”, add the Buffalo Hot Sauce to the bowl and mix until well-incorporated.
- Spread the Chickpeas evenly over a greased or lined Baking Tray. Bake for 30 minutes, stir, then bake for an additional 30 minutes. If the Chickpeas are not crispy at this point, broil them on high for 2-5 minutes.
- The Chickpeas may initially retain some moisture, but should crisp up after about 5-10 minutes out of the oven. Serve as desired – they’re best when still slightly warm!
Notes
- I have not tested this recipe using anything other than Cornstarch.

I made these tonight, they are definitely crispy but don’t have enough flavor for me. I think I’d increase the Buffalo sauce next time. I’ll just eat these with extra sauce on the side. Don’t mind me, I’m that person that orders a side of wing sauce WITH the coated wings!
Totally! Sauce it up!
This recipe looks amazing. I don’t have Buffalo Hot Sauce – not even sure what it is tbh. We’re in the UK – I wonder if it’s an American sauce? My question is what could I use instead? Many thanks.
It’s a pretty popular American thing, a thicker hot sauce. Some brand examples would be Frank’s red hot sauce, which is fresh cayenne peppers, vinegar, garlic, salt. A possible alternative would be a thickened Tabasco sauce if you have something like that available!
I just made them and they were amazing!! Thank you for the recipe!

Yay! Glad you liked it and thanks for trying it out!
Will these store for any length of time so I can have a snack on hand or do they need to be eaten right away?
They should last for 4-5 days!
False! Hey will not last more than a day because they are so delicious!!! ????

Haha! That’s true!
Do you have any idea on how many calories are in a serving?
★★★★★
No, I do not calculate this. There are plenty of free online calculators that you can use though x
I only have the wing sauce. Will it still work?
Yes, it will still work 🙂
Why 360 degrees instead of 350?
Because that is the temperature that worked best 🙂
