A tangy, creamy, and healthy Sesame Miso that’s made in less than 5 minutes and with only 4 ingredients! Perfect for salads, bowls, and more.
I definitely go through phases in my personal cooking habits, and right now I am all about this Sesame Miso Dressing. It’s the perfect balance of tangy and creamy, plus it’s made with 4 ingredients you probably already have in your pantry!
Yep, that’s right. You only need some Miso Paste, Rice Vinegar, Tahini, and a touch of Maple Syrup to make this irresistible dressing. So….shall we?
Not only is this Sesame Miso Dressing made with wholesome ingredients, but it’s so dang easy to put together too! Simply whisk everything in a bowl with a little filtered water and you’re all set.
The dressing itself will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks, so I like to double or triple the recipe and store my leftovers in the fridge.
It will thicken slightly over time, but you can always thin it out with a little extra water if it gets to be too thick. I personally prefer it to be a little less runny anyways, because then it can double as a dip for veggies!
I’ve been drizzling this Sesame Miso dressing over just about anything and everything. Salads, buddha bowls, chilled noodles, you name it! I also like to use it as a dip with my Sweet Potato fries – trust me, you won’t be disappointed 😉
A Few Final Thoughts:
- I used a Shiro Miso Paste for this dressing, but any mellow miso will work! Chickpea miso is also a great soy-free alternative.
- Not all Tahini is created equal – this brand is my favorite, and is much runnier (and less bitter) than a lot of other brands. If you use a different variety of Tahini you may need to use more filtered water.

Glad you liked it, Erin!
Wonderful recipe! This recipe is so versatile: it works great on green salads, pasta salads, falafel, and so much more. I’m so glad I found a recipe to use up all of the miso in my fridge.

This dressing is so delicious. I recently started to eat plant base. I have made many of your recipes and enjoyed them all. I am journaling all the foods I take in. Do you happen to have a calorie count on your dressings.
Good for you! Glad you’ve been enjoying the dressing! Out of personal philosophy we don’t calorie count BUT you can use something like Cronometer to help calculate calorie info of any recipe.
I’ve made the meso dressing for my week meal prep. It was just the Chang in taste I needed .
Miso definitely needs more attention than I feel like it’s given credit for! It’s a fantastic ingredient!
One of my favorite dressings! Quick, easy and super yummy

Thanks a bunch!
Great dressing, and spread on a pizza before cooking it gives an interesting crusty cheesy note. Thanks!

Ooh, love the idea of using it on pizza!
I was honestly pretty nervous go try this, mainly because I don’t usually like tahini (crazy, I know), and I had also never tried miso before. I am so glad I tried it because I am absolutely obsessed with this dressing now. Thank you so much for always creating tasty and amazing recipes, Caitlin. You’re awesome. ????
That makes me so happy to hear! I’m glad you took a risk and tried it out 🙂
Hi, will the white miso work for the dressing?
Yes, that is fine!
I’ve tried miso a couple times before and I was so surprised by how flavorful it is. I love how it goes with shitake mushrooms for example. I really need to start experimenting more with dressing couse my lemon vinaigrette needs a vacation haha. Thank you for the inspiration
Miso is like a top tier ingredient, always have it in the fridge!
I plan on making this, however, I never used Tahini, is there as specific type or are they all the same? Also why filtered water? I used bottled water but is there a specific type I should be using?

Bottled water is fine, I would just not recommend tap water depending on where you live 🙂 I linked my favorite tahini in the recipe notes!
