These Healthy Two-Person Berry Crumbles are fresh, juicy, and perfectly sweet. Incredibly easy to make using 9 wholesome ingredients! Vegan, Gluten-Free, & Oil-Free.
These Healthy Two-Person Berry Crumbles are the perfect date-night dessert! They taste incredible, and let’s face it, we all know that smaller-sized desserts are extra cute and fun.
Even better – these decadent desserts are made from simple & wholesome ingredients that won’t weigh you down or leave you feeling sluggish afterward.
INGREDIENTS FOR HEALTHY TWO-PERSON BERRY CRUMBLES
The fruit filling for these crumbles can be made from any variety of berries – I used strawberries and raspberries, but blueberries, blackberries, or even cherries would be delicious as well!
For the Crumble:
- Almond or Cashew Butter: gives a buttery richness to our crumble base, while helping to hold everything together.
- Almond Flour: serves as our gluten-free flour for the crumble base; be sure to use blanched almond flour.
- Rolled Oats: adds a more hearty texture for our base.
- Maple Syrup: gives a touch of sweetness and helps bind everything together.
For the Filling:
- Berries: Like I said, feel free to customize this fruit filling to your liking. I used strawberries and raspberries, but you could use any berry you like or a combination of your favorite mixed berries!
- Maple Syrup: adds a bit of sweetness to compliment the tart berries. If you’d prefer to use another sweetener, see my recipe notes below ????
- Lemon Juice: A small amount of freshly-squeezed lemon juice goes a long way to balance out all of the flavors in these crumbles, adding just a touch of acidity and lemon-y flavor.
- Vanilla Extract (optional): I think vanilla extract makes almost any dessert 10x better, but if you’re not a fan of the flavor, feel free to leave this out!
HOW TO MAKE HEALTHY TWO-PERSON BERRY CRUMBLES
This recipe is perfect for two or can be cut in half to serve one, or doubled/tripled to serve more guests. The best part is how easy it is to prepare — you can put it in the oven to bake while you enjoy your main course!
- Add the nut butter and maple syrup to a bowl and mix until well combined. Add the dry ingredients and use a spatula to work the dry ingredients into the wet, until a firm ball forms.
- Press a 1/4 of the crumble mixture into the base of each ramekin and bake while you prepare the berry filling.
- Add the berry filling ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Mash 1/2 the berries with a fork to create a more jam-like filling. Set aside.
- Remove the ramekins from the oven and divide the berry filling between each. Crumble the remaining “dough” over the top of each ramekin then bake again until the crumble top is golden.
There’s no better way to wrap up the night than over dessert, am I right?! These little berry crumbles are the perfect cute & sweet treat to end your day. They are delicious on their own, but not too sweet where they can’t also be enjoyed with a scoop of melty vanilla ice cream or cool whip ???? Rather than store these as leftovers, these are best enjoyed fresh the day they are made.

Healthy Two Person Berry Crumbles
These Healthy Two-Person Berry Crumbles are fresh, juicy, and perfectly sweet. Incredibly easy to make using 9 wholesome ingredients! Vegan, Gluten-Free, & Oil-Free.
- Prep Time: 10 Minutes
- Cook Time: 30 Minutes
- Total Time: 40 minutes
- Yield: Serves 2
- Category: Dessert
- Method: Oven
- Cuisine: American
- Diet: Vegan
Ingredients
For the Base/Crumble:
- 3 tablespoons natural almond or cashew butter
- 2 tablespoons grade A maple syrup
- 1/4 cup (26 g) blanched almond flour
- 2 tablespoons arrowroot powder
- 1/4 cup (40 g) + 3 tablespoons rolled oats
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
For the Filling:
- 1 cup (~150 g) berries, finely diced* (I used strawberries and raspberries)
- 1 tablespoon grade A maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat the oven to 350F and grease or lightly spray two 4″ oven-safe ramekins.
- Make the Crumble: add the nut butter and maple syrup to a medium bowl and mix until combined. Then, add the almond flour, arrowroot, oats, baking powder, and salt. Use a spatula to work the dry ingredients into the wet, until a firm ball forms – you may need to switch to your hands.
- First Bake: take 1/2 of the crumble mixture, divide it in half, and press each “quarter” into the base of the ramekins. Place the ramekins in the oven for 10 minutes, while you prepare the berry filling.
- Berry Filling: add the berries, maple syrup, lemon juice, optional vanilla, arrowroot, and salt together to a small bowl; Mix well. Once the arrowroot powder has dissolved, use a fork to mash around half of the berries to create a thicker, more jam-like filling. Set Aside.
- Second Bake: remove the ramekins from the oven and carefully divide the berry filling between each one. Use your hands to crumble the remaining “dough” over the top of each ramekin. Return the ramekins to the top rack of the oven this time and bake for 18-20 minutes, until the crumble is golden and the berries are bubbly.
- Serve: Serve warm, as-is, topped with ice cream/whipped cream, or as desired.
Notes
- Substitutions: I have not tested this recipe with a substitute for almond flour. Arrowroot powder can be replaced with tapioca flour or cornstarch. Maple syrup can be replaced with another liquid sweetener, such as agave.
- Berries: firmer berries (like strawberries) should be finely diced so they break down in the oven. Softer berries, like raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries, can simply be mashed a little with a fork. You can use frozen berries in place of fresh, but thaw them first and strain off any excess liquid.
- This recipe was inspired by Pinch of Yum’s Two Person Raspberry Crumbles.

Has anyone tried this using peanut butter? Looking to make this tonight but I’m out of almond butter. Thanks!
PB will technically work, though it will impart a peanut-y flavor!
So simple to make, even as an indulgent but wholesome breakfast. I used cherries because they’re in season right now, and paired my crumble with a homemade chocolate “nice” cream because who doesn’t love a chocolate + cherry combo? 🙂

Fabulous! So easy and so delicious!

Hmmm, I’m not sure if I did this right! The crust part was not very gooey… It was more “powdery” but I followed the recipe exactly! Any tips?

Hi Lisa, it could either be inconsistency in measuring the dry ingredients, or not a runny enough nut butter. I always recommend following the weight in g for each ingredient vs the cup amount for best results!
Delicious! I substituted apple sauce for the nut butter and it turned out great.

Glad to hear that worked out!
Loved this!!! I will definitely make this on a regular basis!!!
My partner and I made this to celebrate Valentine’s Day and paired it with vanilla ice cream. This recipe blew us away! It was super delicious but required minimal effort, so we’re definitely going to be making this often
